I have a toshiba satellite thats out of warranty, so they charge for tech support. Now i wanna upgrade the ram. The ram that the toshiba website say PC2-4200 up to 1500MB but the ram i pulled out of the machine says:

pc2700s-25331-AO 512MB DDR PC2700 CL2.5

Is DDR2 backwards compatible with DDR?

This is the website with specs for the laptop:

Would this work for a replacement:

Your laptop uses PC2700 200-pin SODIMM, max of 1GB per slot:
