Solved ram upgrade from 1600 to 2133 and is it worth the cost

Specs: win7, intel i5
can any one tell me how much faster i will get if i install 2133 and remove 1600 both are 8gig ram ddr3

Assuming the 2133 and 1600 are the rated operating frequencies of the ram sticks, the 2133 would run 33% faster but your cpu and hard drive speed wouldn't change. And of course the motherboard would need to be able to support the higher speed ram. Overall you probably wouldn't notice any performance increase in the computer.

yes i have changed the hdd from a 5000 to a 7200 rpm sata 3
and the mobo is a z77pro4-m and will take the 2133
and i am running 3.60 ght i5 ivy cpu

But increasing the ram speed in itself isn't going to make much of a difference.

Usually if you want better performance you increase the amount of ram not necessarily its speed. But you've already got 8 gig so unless you're running some really memory-intensive software even adding more ram may not make much of a difference.

You ask if it's worth the cost to buy a faster 8 gig stick. That depends on how much it costs and whether you think the price is reasonable. Sure it'll run a little bit faster. I'm just saying that in normal usage you won't notice the difference.
