Hi

The motherboard of my computer is "ASUS A7V8X-MX SE". In the manual of the motherboard, it said that it supports to a maximum of 2GB unbuffered PC2700/2100/1600 non-ECC DDR SDRAM memory. Will this motherboard still work with "ECC" memory?

Thank you for any help.

Why would you wanna try if the manual specifically states non-ECC?

Thank you Jam. First, I just want to know if it works or not. Second, I can get a low price for the ECC memory to upgrade many computers.

The last reply does not help i reckon as it mentions the advantages of ECC , but the Mobo in the original question will not make use of the ECC feature because it does not have that facility.
I can not tell you whether or not the RAM will work at all as I dont know but I'm sure you had already realised that if ECC ram did work . the 'ecc' bit would not be operative anyway.

ECC memory is usually used in work stations not home or gaming computers.ECC and non-ECC are not compatable working together.I would probably try to borrow i stick and do a test.I did not find a precise answer.Best Of Luck!

Anyway, thank you folks. I probably should not take that kind of risk.
