RAM query

would it really make a difference in speed/or any other way if I used
3 RAMs of 256 MB (assume both RAMs are of different make so dont consider dual channel support & i do have 4 RAM slots)

It would make no difference if they were all running at the same mhz rating.

hmm because a guy who claims to be an 'expert' says that the less no of RAMs, the better the use/speed provided the net amount is equal. For e.g 1GB is better than having 4 RAMs of 256 , assuming all are of the same speeds say DDR400

From what I have heard, less is better due to airflow/heat. I don't think it makes a difference as long as speed and cas are the same
