Current system:

MOBO: Abit AN8 Fatal1ty
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200
RAM: PNY 512mb PC 3200 X2
HD: WD 80GB hardrive X2
Graphics: ATI Radeon 700X 256mb

I have been running the current setup for a couple of years now and I recently purchased a 1gb stick of RAM to bring my total up to 2gb. The problem is I can't seem to get my computer to recognize more than 1.5 gb of RAM.

I tested all the RAM to make sure it works, and all the DIMM slots work. I'm thinking that I could have a pairing issue and I may need to get 2 sticks of 512 instead of the 1 stick of 1gb.

Your thoughts?

If you have 4 slots then RAM goes in pairs (2x256Mb + 2x512Mb or 4x512Mb)

if you try one at a time does each show 1gb or does one show 1gb and one 512mb. Have they both got the same number of chips on each side of the sticks or has one got only half number of chips (denser ram)
