I just got my Toshiba Satellite M55 delivered on June 29th, 2006. It is running Windows XP SP2, has an Intel Celeron processor at 1.6 Ghz. It came with 256 MB RAM. The RAM that I believe is supposed to be used with this is PC 4200, DDR2 SO DIMM. I had also purchased an extra 256 MB memory module that was shipped in its own packaging. I wanted to add that it. I tried my computer before installing this extra memory and it worked perfectly. During installation, I was having a hard time with the clips in the memory slot and was having a hard time inserting it. I finally got in in and when I put the battery back in and plugged the laptop back into the AC power and powered it back on, the power light came on and it was running, however the screen stayed blank. I got no error message, just a black screen like the screen was off. Is this a problem with the memory? Or is it something else. I thought maybe I didn't ground myself properly, or wasn't careful enough with the insertion, I know the memory modules are delicate. Help!

Did you purchase the extra RAM from Toshiba? I found an M50 listed, at the Toshiba site, and it runs PC2700. You can't just throw any brand/density/speed memory in. Check at crucial.com for the exact memory specs. Or check at Toshiba's site for maximum memory capacity, density, brand, speed.
