Subject: Ram problems (Help Needed ASAP)OS: win 98 SECPU/Ram: 600 mgz Celeron 64+++ |
Comment: Ok i Had 2 64 mb ram pc100 card installed, i just brought a 128(pc133 said to be backword compadable) card to replace one of my cards, i installed it into slot 2 of my system and my comp does reconize the ram upon startup then i get this: 0232:Extended Ram Failed at Offset:1A What does that mean? It then gives my the options to enter system setup or continue... If i continue it seems to work fine until i start to use up some ram then sometimes it restarts, but my questions here are: 1-What does that Error msg mean? 2-Could it be because 1 card is pc-100 and the other is pc-133 3-Or do i gotta but the bigger card in slot 1?(Only 2 slots avalible) Other Info: Its an HP Pavilion 6730 Windows 98 SE (Pretty Much Updated) Max system ram is 256 Please Help

Reply: (edit)1. Extended ram is the memory sticks you install. Offset:1A I believe is the location of the error, but I might be wrong. 2. That should not be a problem, PC133 is backwards compatible. In fact, I used to use PC100 overclocked with PC133. 3. Putting your new stick of ram in slot 1 might fix the problem. If not, you might have a bad stick, and I would return it where you bought it for a new one.
