hi, i bought a load of new computer parts the other day. The motherboard i bought waws the asus A7V600.. and i bought 512 MB of DDR RAM to go into it. I thought this would work but when i insert the RAM (which is put in right) the motherboard speaker just starts beeping comstantly and the monitor does not turn on. Although when i inserted a 256Mb of DDR RAM that i had lying about, it worked fine.. I think its probably fixable in the BIOS but this is only the second time i put togerher a computer so am not too sure.. any ideas on why it wount boot up when i use the 512Mb DDR RAM ?

Hi,
Assuming you purchased the correct ram, could it be that the 512 module is bad? Can you try it in another machine?

i can't be sure that its the correct ram. I have tried it in another machine - one with a A7V266 motherboard - the same thing happens - the beeping noise.
