Hey,
I have a major problem with RAM. I am putting together a computer from some old parts i found. I have everything but i miss RAM. The problem is that i don't know what type of RAM goes on to the motherboard because i don't know the model of the motherboard! Is there any way of finding out except from getting various types of RAM and trying them out? The motherboard should have a processor P2-P3 around 600-700Mhz i guess. Must be 5 years old.

Thanks Mike..

LOL, and he would go about running that without RAM for the mobo how? ;-)

If it's 600-700MHz of an Intel variety, it's either a P3 or Celeron. A safe bet would be PC133 SDRAM.

Just be careful as there are two flavours of pc133 SDRAM. Low density and High density. Some of these older boards can only address the double-sided low density type.

I would suggest you research this project a little more. You need to know what density RAM the board will accept and what capacity. Additonally, you need to know what processors can be used. If the MBoard has jumpers and you fire it up with the wrong voltages set you may fry something. Look at the MB carefully for any identifying info and post it back here.

Tnx for the replies. It must be pentium computer. But i did not undersatnd the stuff you said about high and low density RAM.
I'll have a look at the MB and post back.

Thanks Mike..

If you find the make and model of the MBoard you will be able to Download a manual.
