Let's say you have 512MB of RAM, then there is a software in the net that can make a ramdrive and can make a virtual memory out of trhe ramdrive. Well, my question is, is it really useful? Because for all I know, Ram is faster than HD virtual memory. Really need an opinion before trying.

Thanks in advance.

When you only have 512MB of RAM you should leave it all as RAM. If you use some of it as a RAM drive for virtual memory than you will lose some performance in your system. Virtual memory is designed to be used as a backup to normal RAM in case all the RAM is used. You could do this to increase performance if you had more than 1GB of RAM as Windows generally only makes good use of the first gig of RAM that you would have, at least in my experience.

I don't believe you can set your pagefile to a ramdisk so this is a moot point.

A ramdisk say 50meg big is an excellent place for internet temp files. You shutdown and they are instantly gone forever. Anything that has to write temp files benefit from have the temp variable set to the ramdrive. This is especially true for printing. 50meg out of 512 is not a big hit.
