Hey Guys,
Random question....
But what really increases system performance?
Lots more RAM or a new graphics card?
Cheers,
Miles

In most cases more RAM.
A new graphics card will only show an increase in performance if the applications you run require a more powerful video card and can make use of the power.
For instance, this computer I am using has a 32 Mbs ATI card that is about four years old. If I were to put a more powerful up-to-date card I would hardly notice any difference. Thats because of the type of things I do with my computer which does not include things like on-line gaming, video editing or CAD.

And more RAM only speeds up your system if you currently do not have enough. If the applications that you currently run do not use virtual memory, then adding more RAM will have no effect.

a P4 3 Ghz and 512 RAM. What could you possibly need more power for????
If that is too slow for normal human tasks (that is, non-gaming) then you have other problems, and major ones at that. Hold that upgrade fever until Vista comes out and you need 2 gigs of RAM!!!!
Seriously what you already have seems more than adequate.
You can avoid many of these Windows problems with Linux. Linspire eases the transition for new users

Heya,
Ye the reason i want more RAM is for Gaming Reasons.
And I doubt I will be upgrading to VISTA for a long while... it's gonna cost a bomb when it comes out.. and like XP probably wont be stable until a good few updates are released for it.
Anyway, cheers for the help guys,Miles
