Hello,
My motherboard is a GA-8IPE1000-G and untill now has housed 2*512 sticks of DDR400 3200 RAM running in dual channel. However, today i bought a 1GIG stick of the same specification except without duel channeling, when i installed it and booted up the computer, the RAM goes undetected. I have tried it in both of my remaining free slots and neither pick up the RAM, however the boot up does say that i am no longer running due channel, which says to me it is picking up the new stick in some sense and cancelling the dual channeling option. Does anyone have any possible suggestions as to what the problem could be? Thanks in advance for any help!

Matt

I tried taking out all of the ram sticks and then inserting them again one at a time with the new ram in DDR1, but with only the new stick in the computer would not boot up, and instead just beeped frantically with no image sent to the screen. Once i plugged in my 2 older sticks it booted up fine, but still without detecting the new stick. Again, any help is appreciated.

If the RAM is not appropriate for the motherboard it will never work, no matter how hard you want it to. You probably just got in a hurry and bought the wrong thing. Hope you can return it.

You can avoid many of these Windows problems with Linux. Linspire eases the transition for new users

Possible that you got a bad stick of ram?

I would say, if possible return it.

George
