Can you have different speeds of memory on your motherboard and have it work? Example: PC2100 with a PC2700. or PC2100 and PC3200.

well to my knowledge you cant, motherboards only support a certain speed of ram. mixing the ram speeds(if you can) would probably result in poor performance.

I have used mixed rams in the past without problem. But be aware they will only work to the speed of the slowest rated . e.g mixing pc2100 and pc2700 will mean the pc2700 will work as pc2100.
Having said that some motheboards are choosy about which rams can be used
