Comment:

My question lies in the speed of the RAM. Here are my specs:

ASRock P4V88 MOBO
P4 2.66Ghz OC'd 3.2Ghz
Rosewill PC3200 512MB

My question is when I am in the CMOS the speed of the RAM is 166Mhz. Why is this when my MOBO supports up to 800Mhz FSB? Or is it not associated with FSB?

Thanks.

What is the "normal" FSB for your CPU - 400, 533, or 800? What speed are you currently running your FSB at? What's your CPU:DRAM ratio setting?

Asus A7N8X-X
1800+ @8x210mhz
512mb PC3200
Ti4200/8X 128mb
WDC 60GB

"What's your CPU:DRAM ratio setting? "

I know what you are talking about, but I see no such setting in the BIOS. The only thing in CPU config is the frequency and it's set to 160 giving me 3.2Ghz. Don't ask me how. I had a hard time figuring out how to OC it and just adjusted that setting. If you ask me the BIOS sucks.

"What is the "normal" FSB for your CPU"
This I don't know either. It came from my old computer that was prebuilt. All i know it's a 2.66 P4. Will this Everest tell me all I need to know?

1) Your CPU freq. (i.e. 160 mHz) gets multiplied by the Ratio Value(i.e. 20) to give you your 3.2 gHz

2) PC3200 RAM (aka DDR400) runs at 200 mHz but by default your system opts for 166 mHz.

Go to bios in the Advanced menu under Chipset Configuration you can change your DRAM Frequency from 166 mHz to 200 mHz

3) If you want to learn more about which does what, where and how go to www.extremetech.com for some decent articles
