I'm just wondering if there's a way of finding out what type of RAM your PC is using?

My dad is looking to add more and I have no idea where to tell him to look.

Any help would be appreciated!

Download Everest home edition. This freeware utility will tell you that and more. Find Everest here: http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/fi...

If you have the motherboard manual either hard copy or it might be in PDF form on your chipset driver disk then the info on ram will be in there. Or you can visit www.crucial.com and let them scan your system or if you know your motherboard make/model number just input that info.

Another useful tool is Everest Home Edition. Google for it. That tool can tell you loads of info about your system including what ram is currently installed. It might not give you info on the maximum amount supported though.
Your mobo manual or Crucial will tell you that.

I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.

another way is to look at the label on the ram that's in there. I admit some don't have a very informative label, but most do.
