ok. so I have 1X512 mb of pc2700 and 1X256 mb of pc2700 .
Is adding a 1X512 mb of pc3200 gonna do any good?
I have 3 slots for ram. 2 are closer together with the third slot a little farther

It will obviously increase your overall RAM amount, but my question to you is why are you running PC2700 with an Athlon 3200+ in the 1st place? You don't state whether your 3200+ is an AXP or A64 but regardless, both require PC3200 for best performance.

"cuz thats what pc came with it"
You list the PC as being "home built asus with moth"...apparently you were trying for "motherboard" but ran out of space.
Since it was "home built", someone picked out the RAM. Whoever that "someone" is got PC2700 instead of PC3200. Oh well, not much you can do about that now.
"will 512mb of 3200 faster than 768 of 2700?"
No. Even though PC2700 will run slower than what would be considered "optimal", there's still 256MB more of it. If you add the 512MB stick of PC3200, it will be the same as having 1.25GB of PC2700.
You didn't answer my question about the CPU though...do you have an Athlon XP 3200+ or an Athlon 64 3200+? Also, do you know the make/model of your motherboard? If not, try running CPUZ & report back what you find:

AMD ATHLON XP 3000+**(I made a mistake in the title)
2162.9MHZ
Motherboard:Asustek A7N8X-E
Chipset:Nvidia nforce ultra 400So i can leave the 3200 ram in their and it will make it a little faster.?

"AMD ATHLON XP 3000+**(I made a mistake in the title)"
OK, that makes a huge difference! Your CPU runs at 333MHz FSB so PC2700 IS the correct RAM.
"So i can leave the 3200 ram in their and it will make it a little faster.?"
Definitely.
You have a very solid setup. The ASUS A7N8X-E is an excellent motherboard & very overclockable. The 3000+ is pretty close to being maxed out at it's stock settings but you *should* be able to get it up to somewhere between 2.2-2.3GHz by just changing a few settings. Which video card are you running?

a radeon 9250 256MB
It's getting old and its pixel shaders are something like 1.4 . so I cant play the newer games buts its still a good graphics card.
how do I overclock my cpu?
Should I do it?
Is it bad for the cpu?
and what kind of things can i do to get the most out of my pc?oh and Thanks for all the help Jam. this is really good stuff for me to know
