This morning i intneded to buy 128mb of pc133 sdram, however the man behind the counter unknowingly to him and then me gave me a stick of 256mb pc133 ram! When i got home i put it in my PC taking all neccesary precautions but it only registered as a total of 192mb of ram including my 128mb stick. windows xp reported the same. i shut down reshuffled the sticks this time it wouldn't post! not even the graphics card info displayed. i other combinations of ram and came to the conclusion that the stick must be faulty! so i got it replaced, but this time the man gabe me the 128mb pc133 stick i had originally paid for. I tried it in my pc and the same prob??? Please help me to fix this prob. Is all ram 3.3v (thats what my mobo supports) I have a feeling it might be to do with the timing settings as the pc will only boot if the newer ram is in dimm1. Im pretty sure its not a single sided/double sided ram problem as the 256mb dimm which i was originally sold was two sided and the 128mb replacement is single sided.
