Ram compatiblility issue

Hail, My current mobo manual states it supports DDR266 Ram, just wondering if it will accept a higher speed ram such as DDR400 (since it's the same price) but run it as 266 untill i get a better mobo? Or will it just not accept it period? Thanks very much appreciated :)

It `should' accept it. The speed is the maximum it is guaranteed to run at.

Don't want to be argumentative but I think the system probably wouldn't post. If you can exchange the memory if it won't work, I say go for it. It is a good idea.
