Comment: I'm looking into getting a RAID controller for backing my info. I have heard that it is the cheapest way to do a complete and instantaneous backup of my drive. I'm also hearing that I should buy two identical harddrives for it. Is this a necessity or could I just get a drive the size of my first one? I have heard that installing RAID for linux is very difficult. Is this true for XP? Would win2000 OS make it easier?

Reply: (edit)RAID is easy in XP. You should use identical drives for optimal performance, but you could use a drive that is the same or larger than your existing for mirror in RAID 1 array. Check your RAID controller documentation for details. HTH
