Hello,
I installed a RAID 1 array (mirror) on my
dual-boot (GRUB bootloader) system. The array comprises the existing 80 GB
disk, plus an additional SATA 120 GB disk.Installed RAID controller is the Promise
FastTrak 376 Controller. In the Windows
Device Manager, under 'disk drives', two
drives are listed:Promise 1x2 Mirrir/RAID 1 SCSI Disk Device
WDC WD800JB-00CRA1During POST, the following message appears:
FastTrak 376(tm) BIOS Version 1.00.0.21 (c)
2002-2005 Promise Tech., blah blah
ID: 1*, Mode: 1x2 Mirror, Size: 80026 M,
Track-Mapping 9729/255/63,
Status: FunctionalPOST ends with the following message:
disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter
When I switch off the machine, and
reconnect the 80 GB disk from the parallel
RAID connector to its customary IDE
connector, the machine enters the GRUB
bootloader in the normal way. It then also
becomes clear that during the creation of the RAID array the 80 GB disk has indeed
been copied to the 120 GB disk. Why does it not want to boot ??
Thanks in advance, Rob

I do not have the same controller as you, but, as I recall, there was an option where I had to tell the RAID controller that I wanted to boot from the array.
