Hi,
What will happen if a RAID 5 is created and then the order of the HD is changed and plugged into the array? eg. HD 1,2,3,4 are used and then order is changed to 1,2,4 and 3 .will the array crash or will it still work?? Just wanted to know!!
thanks in advance.

You talking SCSI I guess?

I do not think it will work if drive positions are changed.

Because there is one redundant drive in RAID 5 implementation and parity and data is striped across the drives, changing the order of the drives will "break" the array.

Data should be intact because the array will report as broken.
