Comment: oky doky.. i have recently gottena radeon 9700 pro , but the system it's running on now is a 1.3 t-bird athlon (this guy cracked the dye, so it only runs at 1 ghz) 256 2100 ddr, and a k7s5a mobo... well of course my performance is not that big of a jump fron my old card (gforce 2 mx 400 64) espiecially in loading times.. in game it's great thought.. anyway.. i and about to order an asus a7v8x mobob and an athlon XP 2400... i was wondering if anybody knows of any known problems between the vid card and the mobo....? i have looked and seen a couple people having probs on other forums, but then i see a whole gaming systems twith the exact same specs for sale... thx N9

Reply: (edit)If the processor die was cracked, you would not even be able to POST. Maybe it getting dinged up is causing your Athlon T-bird only running at 1000 mhz problem. The above symptoms are usually caused by: 1. The processor bridges got messed up. 2. If the Athlon T-bird is 133 mhz FSB based, an Athlon T-bird C, the motherboard resetted the FSB to 100 mhz.

Reply: (edit)thx for responding radny, but this does not answer my question, never the lesss heh, yeh if i set the cpu fsb to 133, the comp will crash in a matter of minutes after booting into windows,, but if i down clock it to 100, then it runs great, i was using this compo as a full time webserver for the last 5 months, but now i am actually shuttting it down sometimes.. but i've had it for over 2 years.. this guy put the cpu in for me, (so i could go get a HD from my house), and see, my system started crashing (blue screen with lots of numbers).. so i took it back to jthe people i bought it from, and they loked at the cpu, it was cracked in two places and they cahrged me $60 just to tell me that..) then i actually looked at it at home, and it was, not very big cracks, but cracks al the same.. any way,,, i still need and answe to my first question, ARE THEYE ANY COMPADIBILITY PROBS WITH AN ASUS A7V8X AND A RADEON 9700 PRO?

Reply: (edit)Well I run an a7v8x-x and it runs fine with radeon 9000 pro. Only thing I believe to cause problems is, MAKE SURE your card is 0.8 v or 1.5 volts compatible (8x 4x). This is in the manual. Supports agp8x so means, I guess, the older cards won't work on it. ALSO, I had to run my mobo with crappy pci graphics first, to chqange the bios as it defaults to PCI, not AGP??? It is great though.

Reply: (edit)I have an A7V8X motherboard and have had an ATI 9700 since the day it came out! :-) They work flawlessly together. Just make sure you have a beefy PSU to keep everything stable.
