PCI-e, but you have to have a motherboard with a PCI-E port to use it. Difference in actual performance won't be much.

Go with the AGXFX GeForce 6600GT 128mb AGB. AGB slots have more bandwith, so games will run better on one when compared to the same version on PCI.

I would stay away from PCI video cards as much as possible. There isn't anything wrong with them. They are just not the best in gaming.

Your confusing PCI with PCI-e.

Heropsycho covers it.

"AGB slots have more bandwith"
AGB? AGP? Anyways, PCI-E has I think almost double the bandwith of AGP and will be the new standard in graphics cards. Right now, psycho's right-there isn't much difference, but in the future it will be worth it to switch over.

"I would stay away from PCI video cards as much as possible."
It believe you're thinking of regular PCI cards. Yes, they are old and yes, you should stay away from them, being slower than AGP. However, I think STE means PCI Express, way more faster than the old PCI. Just clarifying :-)

How much faster is the PCI-E to the AGP card?

Is the PCI-E not suspose to take over AGP cards in the next few years?

Yes, I was going to post again about that, but I don't like double posting.

I have never even heard of PCI-E. But I believe that it could be better than AGB.

Well, it would be best if you looked it up on google. I don't know a thing about PCI-E or its compatiblity. But a safe bet would be that it will probably replace AGP (AGB? I don't know).

Isn't PCI-E = PCI EXPRESS?

Yes, PCI-E = PCI Express.

I wonder what the initials PCI mean?

So everybodys final vote is on the PCI-E card? Would it be worth the extra bucks?

BTW This is the best mid-budget card going right?

I don't know if its the best card, but it is better then the AGP version of the same card. So I would vote for the PCI-E version.

I would recommand a better card, but I don't know jack about todays video cards.

Most sites I've seen have the PCI-E cards at a slightly lower price than the AGP cards.

Dude, you must have an motherboard with PCI-E to use it. So really, this decision should be determined by your choice of motherboards. Motherboards have either AGP or PCI-E, not both.

ranking from crappiest to best:
pci, agp, pci-e

yes pci express will take over the video card industry. Yes its agp, not agb. It all depends, as posted earlier, if you have a pci-express slot, which is different from pci or agp. and on newegg the pci-express is actually $5 USD less than the agp version.

Heres a link to a good review of the 6600gt

http://anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2277&p=1

it convinced me to buy one over anything else for the money (xfx 128meg agp).
performance wise im happy with an aquamark result of..
1024.768x32 =51395 ,3200amd64 @2k ,1gig noname ram, k8vse latest bios.
when i checked on the aquamark site it seems a pretty reasonable score.
theres been a few complaints tho of graphics issues jaggies and lines due to faulty chips
so get a warrenty.
regards
