Comment: hello all well my new pc has arrived but i've just got a query about a hard drive i have. my new motherboard is a ABIT IC7-MAX3 which uses sata. ok my old pc has my 200gig hard drive in it which is just a normal IDE one but i want to put this into my new pc soooooooo..... can i just connect this up as normal or do i need some sort of convertor cable to do this thanks for any help, never dealt with sata before :)

Reply: (edit)No you don't need any special cable, you can just connect the regular IDE cable with it. Make sure you go to the BIOS and set your SATA HD for the first boot. Otherwise it will read the IDE instead of SATA.

Reply: (edit)Is the old drive to be the only drive in the system? Or did you order a SATA harddrive also? If the old HD is going to be the only drive then SATA doesn't enter the picture, as you won't be using it. If you are using the old drive then setup the boot order just like your old machine and ignor the SATA.
