Hi to all.
I have a Toshiba Qosmio G20. Just bought it about 1 month ago.
To anyone that knows the Qosmio series.
Qosmio notebooks has a built in Qosmio Player for playing TV and CD/DVD without booting windows. I've found out that the player is a minimalist Linux System. My problem is the location of the player. It is suposed to be in the first HDD. However no partition software can see it. I've read in toshiba forums that it is located in unpartitioned space at the end of the first HDD. In Bios the first HDD is seen has an 79GB HD and Second has 80GB HD. The both drives should be 80GB. Using a partition software. I've found out that the first HD is missing 100MB wich is about the size of the player. These 100MB are simply missing from the drive, thats why bios detects 79GB. I've opened the HDD bays in the notebook. And the HDD are exactly the same. One is the serial number right after the other. So the drives should have the same size. My guess is that toshiba allocated less 100MB on the first HD for use with the Qosmio Player.
Now? How do i get them back? How do I put the missing 100MB back on the drive?

Another thing. When I erased the MBR on the first HD the Qosmio Player Desapeared. Right after installing Windows, using the recovery CD it came back. However qosmio player has it own recovery disc, the recovery DVD that contains windows doesn't contain Qosmio Player. So? How did it come back? Another thing. The MBR of the second HD reports unknown partitions of 250TB, of course this is impossible. ;) When I try to delete the MBR of the second HD it doesn't let me.

This is all with RAID configured to JBOD.
No mirror, no Stripping!

Any ideas on how to remove the Qosmio Player? And how to recover the missing 100MB on the first HD?

By the way, the HardDrives Are two Fujitsu 2,5 SATA.

Thanks to all!

I'm just a shadow of my former self!

How have you configured the raid and jbod?

It is possible that the qoisimo is written RAW on unpartitioned space.

If you have a linux CD (like Lycoris, Lindows, etc.), try booting from it, then use the linux partition software to look for a linux partition. Delete it.

Sound like an odd situation.

If that option isn't available, try disconnecting one of the drives and deleting the mbr on each of them. Then use windows nt partitioning software to create partition in unpartitioned space.

Also, some bioses have an option for IDE HDD low level format. Might want to try that.
