Didn't make sense to me either. I have refilled cartridges before and didn't use anything but the ink. By the way, good luck with the refill, I never had any.

I think he's talking about the cleaner that comes with some ink refill kits, otherwise known as head cleaner. Once a head has been clogged you might as well pitch it and get a new one. Clogged print heads is probably why I see so many used printers for sale. It's almost cheaper to buy a new printer than ink cartridges. I too don't have much luck with ink refill kits. I finally gave up on them and got rid of my old lexmark printer and bought a new hp printer. At least ink doesn't dry up as fast in it.

I have tried rubbing alcohol to clean print heads, use at own risk!

Isopropyl Alcahol - it used to be available from your local chemist. Also cleaning alcahol can be obtained in spray cans.

Surgical spirit is good and then white spirit is stronger.

Good luck - Keep us posted.
