I want to get new computer speakers, since my 2.0 emachine speakers are worn out and are pretty dull.
I want to get the Logitech 540 speakers http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ... but I have never hooked up 5.1channel speakers before and was just wondering if I am set to go to run them.
I don't have a sound card, just the on-board audio on the mobo.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...
it has Audio CODEC: ALC888S.
So am I set? or should I just stick with the speakers I got?

From the website you listed, this is what I see:
"Onboard audio •8 channel high-definition audio "
You're fine if you want to get a 5.1 surroud sound which is a 6 channel. So go ahead but don't annoy your neighbours :)
Asus M4A78-EM
AMD Phenom II X2 550 @ 3.11
Patriot PC2-6400 4Gig
MSI R4830
Seagate 160Gig SATA
Seagate 320Gig SATA
External 1T

For the price, I don't think it would hurt. This is not for certain but you MAY have a better sound quality and (for sure) settings with that card.
