What is the function of Google Toolbar Helper. I have enabled the Toolbar itself; what additional benefits/detriments will I experience by enabling the Helper?
None...you don't need it. IMO, it will simply use system resources and give you absolutely nothing in return. You don't need google toolbar, ask toolbar, mutton for allah toolbar, or any others.

Toolbars take away from the viewable area plus many of them are spyware. Get rid of it.
