can anyone tell me
my m8s baught a 64 bit cpu and 64 bit board but after pressing the power button the monitor will go on sleep i was wonding if he needs a 20pin or 24pin power to the motherboard as well as the 4 pin near the cpu we been told u cant have the 24 pin and the cpu 4 pin in at same time cos it will over load the cpu but i think it should have the 24 pin as well as the 4 but he only has a power pack with 20pin so we cant test it.

HELP! lol cheer people plz reply asap

Look at the motherboard...does if have a 20-pin connector or a 24-pin connecter? Does it also have the square 4-pin ATX2V1 connector? If they're there, you have to use them both! And the PSU has to have a main plug with the correct pin count or you'll have to use an adapter (or get the correct PSU)

well the motherboard has 24 pins the 4 pin ATX2V1 is in we have managed to get to the bois boot part but cant get into bois or post we think its lake of power beacuse it only has a 20 pin psu pluged in if that makes sense :P

While some motherboards will operate with a 20 pin PSU plugged into an ATX 2.0 24 pin motherboard I would say (to be on the safe side)most will not. What you need is an ATX 2.0 PSU. As far as that myth about having the 24 pin and 4 pin overloading the CPU that isn't true. You need that 4 pin to supply clean current to the CPU. Without that 4 pin your machine won't even POST.
