Heya guys, just a quick question. Just recently disassembled my old computer to clear it, as I'm reassembling some of the parts into a different build. I have an Antec performance True 430w PSU that I took apart to clean, as it was no longer under warranty anyways.
The problem is.....I cant remember which way the 2 fans are supposed to be blowing. I've done a fair bit of searching on the net and just cant seem to find this info. Any help would be greatly appreciated :P

Hi Professor,
This is bound to elicit plenty of comment.
If there are other case fans, you would want them and the PS fan to NOT be working against each other; ie both or all blowin in.
If there are no other fans it shouldn't matter much, but.
If the PS is near the top of the case, having it blow out will be working with the convection current.
If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.M2

the fan on the rear of the PSU should blow out (exhaust)...the other fan should blow into the PSU (intake)
This space for rent

The PSU generates alot of heat, so you want it to blow out all of that hot air (through the rear fan). You want good air circulation in your case, so you want the inside fan to suck air into the PSU.
On the other hand, if you switch the direction of the airflow, you'd be blowing hot air onto your motherboard/cpu, causing its temperature to increase and start having problems.
The normal convention for airflow has the front case fans sucking air in from the bottom of the front of the case, and the rear case fans blowing air out. Don't set the rear case fans to blow in, otherwise it would cause a "short circuit" with the PSU (keep recycling the same air back into the PSU)

Ok, so I'm clear on the 1 fan. As I figured, the PSU fan at the rear of the case blows the hot air out. But what about the second fan in the PSU? As with most antec PSUs, the second fan is located at bottom of the PSU unit, pointing down towards the guts of the computer (this is the orientation when the tower is standing in its intended, upright position).
So, the rear PSU fan blows air out of the case. It would seem to me that the 2nd, downward facing fan should be sucking air from the case info the PSU to be blown out of the case. Cause if both fans are blowing out of the PSU, that would create a sort of vaccuum, no?
So, should it look like this BUILD 1.(fans blowing in direction of arrows):
<<<<<<< rear fan *PSU* (in upright position)
...............bottom fan
V

VOr like this BUILD 2:
<<<<<<< rear fan *PSU* (in upright position)
...............bottom fan
