hey i need some help tryin to work out which psu will be compatible with my pc,

specs are>>>>

1.7Ghz,256mb ram
compaq presario 6150 uk

i currently have a 220w psu but since im upgrading the memory and graphics card il be lookin to put a 430w psu in.
any help would be greatly appreciated

The 1st thing you're gonna need to do is find out if your Compaq PSU is proprietary or not. If it is, it will have to be replaced with a compatible Compaq unit. You can either do some searching, or you can simply unplug the main ATX plug from the board & compare the wires to the diagram on the following site. If the colors match up exactly, you can use a standard "off the shelf" PSU. If they don't, you'll need a Compaq unit.

You may want to check with Compaq about this specifically as it is obvious you have no experience with this and could well spend lots of $$$ on something that will never work.

ok jam/gxi man thnx for that at least i can check with the diagram u gave me,failing that i will contact compaq and see what they say and if it doesnt work out il bloody well get my self a decent pc.
