Subject: PS/2 to USB Adapter wont Work! HELPOS: Windows 98SECPU/Ram: PII 233Mhz/386MB |
Comment: Hello. My PS/2 Mouse port went on the fritz, so to use my mouse I went out and bought a little 4 dollar PS/2 to USB adapter on eBay... So i plug it in and no luck. It recognizes it as a "USB Composite Device"... So I try to load standard PS/2 Drivers, and it wont let me... So what's wrong? Do I need drivers? The mouse is a standard Compaq Scroll mouse... And yes, I did try different mice... Thanks Nick

Reply: (edit)Those things usually don't work, or they only work with certain mice. You probably need to buy a USB or serial mouse and use the corresponding port.

Reply: (edit)You're welcome. You may want to check the PS/2 port again. Make sure it's enabled in cmos/bios setup. If the mouse still doesn't work you may as well disable that port.
