Comment: I have an original IBM PS/1 2011 and have installed Dos 5 and Windows 1.04 on it. The PS/2 mouse works with DOS but Windows 1.04 was not compatible with PS/2 mice. The computer has no serial port for a serial mouse. Is there another way to hook up a serial mouse or make Windows compatible with PS/2 mice.
P.S. You would have to see this to know why I chose Windows 1.04 instead of 2 or 3.11. P.S. I do have a parallel port if that can help -Yapsterb

Reply: (edit)Sorry about answering a question with more questions but it's not a 80286 @ 10Mhz? What is the reason you can't run Windows 2.xx? I know the machine has no serial ports nor expansion slots. I'm also told no set-up disks shipped with these and that they came with PC-Dos 4.something...and were never intended for windows. I can only suggest you try a later version of windows. Skip

Reply: (edit) I have tried installing Windows 2.03 and it came up with a message saying it required a 286 or higher. Is there a way to connect a serial mouse to a parallel port? I also want to have Windows on it for collection purposes. Thanx.

Reply: (edit)There's a possibility that you can do the 2.03 install by by-passing the CPU check. Below is one version of windows setup options. I don't know if they are applicable to that version or not. WINDOWS SETUP OPTIONS /im Skips memory check /id Ignores the disk space check /is Skips the routine system check /iq Skips the check for cross linked files /ie Does not create a boot disk /ih Skips the Registry check /iv Skips the Display of billboards /nm Skips the cpu check
