Reply: (edit)"tried a serial mouse and that didn't work either" Whatever difficulties you are having with your PS/2 port should not affect a serial port mouse. In both cases, the port must be enabled in the BIOS, as well as by the Operating System Check again We've heard that a million monkeys at a million keyboards could produce the complete works of Shakespeare; now, thanks to the Internet, we know that is not true

Reply: (edit).. which will do nothing if the error message is truly being generated by the BIOS. Looking at one old machine, that option is found under 'Security' Was this mouse ever working on this machine? Reply: (edit)Have you checked the contents of CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT to see if there is anything there relating to a mouse. I presume the error message is displaying as you are booting the pc into dos prior to W95. Good Luck - Keep us posted.
