Yeah - here I go again. First physical drive was dying, so I replaced it and am trying to reconstruct the stack of drives I had running. And, once again, I'm hung up at the Promise SATA Console SCSI Processor Device showing up in Device Manager as needing the driver updated. But the motherboard disk doesn't have it, the Asus site doesn't have it and I can't seem to find it on any of the myriad of sites that turn up in a Google search for this problem.
It's an Asus P4P800-e Deluxe, running RAID in IDE mode and, yes, the BIOS has been set correctly. It's just amazingly frustrating that no Windows install ever seems to go the same as the one before it and I'm hoping someone here might know where to turn here.

Yep - But the first thing I saw was that they don't provide support for motherboards which have an embedded Promise controller (which I have) and the second thing I saw was that the controller wasn't listed in the dropdown menu.
I really don't get this - I have disks made up with drivers and "special instructions" for things I had to hunt down from previous reinstalls - and... well... it ain't workin' this time... Amazingly frustrating...

A bit of a follow up - I've now found 3 sites with what I'm supposedly looking for - but they're all the same as what I already have backed up - fasttx2k.inf. So, I guess it's not exactly a driver issue - but I still can't get the controller to install. The drives show up in Disk Management as healthy - but with no file system. A bit of a visual on this is here: http://img240.imagevenue.com/img.ph...

Summary: I know this is a late message but I have the same p4s8x motherboard and just ran into the same problem. Some SATA drives need a jumper that limits the drive to 1.5 and most SATA drives don't come with...
