Subject: Promise HDD ControllerOS: win 3.1CPU/Ram: intel / ? |
Comment: whenever i start the computer i get a message saying HDD Controller Failure! press F1 to resume. the HDD Controller is a Promise EIDE2300PLUS. i can format it and install dos and win 3.1 but when i restart it, it dont go to the dos command. i looked at the manufacturer's site and downloaded all i could for it. drivers for windows and dos along with 2 sets of PDF's. problem is i cant understand any of it. if i format the HDD and reset CMOS to defaults, can anyone help me make it work from there? the HDD is only 119mb. just curious, would it work in a pentium 3/ 500mhz machine so it would have up to 4 HDD's and 2 cd drives? not like i wanna do it though.

Reply: (edit)there is no other controller. the promise is the only place to plug in the hdd's or cd rom drive, the floppy drive and it has a serial port and a parallel port. i dont need it anyway. i wanted to try this board cause the mouse wasnt working on the other board. but it dont work on this one either. thanks!
