My laptop is only around 10 months old. I've noticed the fan making loud humming noises then quieting down and going back to the humming noise. At times like right now, it is silent and this isn't a problem. The temperature of the laptop is also extremely hot near the left where the fan vent is located. I was wondering if there's any program to help quiet the fan and keep the temperature of it moderate or if there are any configurations to change. I'm fairly confident that it isn't a hardware issue after reading the cases of other people with loud fans.

If the machine was OK at the outset then adding cooling programs is not the right way forward. You need to determine the cause of the problem and fix it.

Things that suddenly hum or buzz are often about to breakdown. A replacement fan comes to mind.

Maybe I'm reading the original post wrong, but what I took from it is he's complaining when the fan on his new laptop kicks to 100% because the CPU's heating up.

Is that not what everyone else got?
