Subject: processor speeds
OS: windowsXP with SP2
CPU/Ram: AMDsempron 3200+/ 512mb
Manufacturer/Model: Acer aspire T160
Comment:

I was wondering why when I run pc wizard 2006 it says my processor is a AMD sempron 3200+ which has 1800 mhz but PC wizard says it is only running at 1004.60 mhz. i just added 2 512 sticks of ram to make my total ram of 1536mb. I was wondering why my processor won't run at advertised speeds?

Check your FSB in your bios and make sure it is up to what is should be. most likely should be at 333mhz. your ram that you purchased to carry that speed should be at least DDR333 also known as PC2700 ram.

actually it should say 166mhz not 333mhz, the 333 is what your DDR ram is. you possibly could overclock it to be 200mhz also.

Before making any changes, run CPUZ & report back what your CPU & RAM settings are:

yes where it said your cpu was at 200 is the fsb that's correct.

try to do as jam askes, but also do this

go to start>control panel>System and on the right side there it should say your type of processor and the speed it is currently running at and the amount of ram you have. what does it say?

Since the Palermo Sempron 3200+ runs @ 1800MHz (200x9), the problem is with the multiplier. You notice CPU-Z show x5 and that should be x9.

Go into your system BIOS and fix it.

Pull up your manual or download it from Acer, funnily I noticed Acer on their website list the T160 as having **up to 1GHz FSB** - makes one ponder if have they did manipulate the Sempron CPU in the T160?

thanx to all you guys for trying to help me with the processor speed.I guess I am to stupid to understand what yall r talking about.guess i will just leave it alone as it is not running slow at all and i am not a extreme gammer and i don't want to mess up the warrinty. I am however going to replace the oem psu to a 500 watt unit could that possibly be the problem? also i went to acer's website to get a manual and it is the same one that came with the computer and no info on how to change multiplier speeds. anyway one last thing i downloaded a program of the net called rm clock i tried to delete but said access denied to make sure it wasn't right protected or disk wasn't in use how can i delete this from my computer?
