I have a Dell Laptop that has the processor rated at 1.3 GHZ. The only problem is it runs at 595MHZ. I thought that mabey the program that I was using to determin this was wrong, but it says the same thing in the Bios and also it says that is runs at 595 at the begining screen when I try to play Halo. Is there some power options on a laptop or something that is causing this degrade in performance. I need help desperately it is running so fricken slow.

Brandon, that is indeed strange. The only thing I can think of is to enter your BIOS and check where your FSB is set; it should be at 133, if your CPU has a 266 FSB on it (which most do). Sometimes Boards are set at a lower setting, like 100MHz, and you must boost them up. The only other thing I can think of is misrepresentation: you really don't have a 1.3GHz CPU, but a cheaper, slower one was actually installed. Call Dell and tell them you think they installed the wrong processor, and they will help you determin what you really have.

I think that you have the new Intel mobile CPU. Speed is set by demand and done to save battery power. Think its called Centrino. The 1.3GHz is the maximum speed. Read your manual as I don't know if there is a manual override.
