Processor in, no start

Ok, I install the motherboard into the case, put the ram in, and tried to start it, the power supply turned, on GOOD... Then i put the processor in... now it won't turn on, it'll try for a half second then turn off... If i take the processor back out, it will start the maching (the power supply) WHAT"S THE DEAL???
