Hi All,

here is my MOBO: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...

According to this, the fastest CPU I can put in is a 2.66ghz. I can't put in a 3.2 with 800FSB, right?

Also, says fastest RAM is PC2100. Is it ok to use PC3200? I read previously something about P4 architechture not doing well with anything over PC 2100 I think. Is it a big deal that my PC3200 400mhz is in here, even though it is backwards compatible?

Rigth, you can't use 800Mhz FSB CPU.
And yes you can use PC3200 however the RAM speed will decrease to PC2100.

You may try to use 800Mhz FSB CPU if you overclock the FSB and adjust RAM speed manually. Don't know about the chipset support thou.
If your board will alow doing this that is.
Maybe with a BIOS update.

Once upon a time the floppy disk was king.

You can try if you want, but since the board only supports 400/533MHz FSB, it would run underclocked at 2.13GHz.

Your 2.53GHZ CPU is only one rung under the max supported. It's not worth upgrading. Why do you feel you need more CPU power?

I don't know if I really need more. I am about to get ready to transfer old 8mm camcorder tapes to the PC so I can put on DVD. I have the Dazzle USB device and I just want to make sure I have plenty of power for a smooth transfer. I have a 1 gig stick of ram and a 256mb. I am going to take out the 256 and put another 1gig in to give me a total of 2gb - I should be fine with that.
