Hi all,

The GF4 seems to work fine but I've tried it on my system under Win Me & XP Pro and crashes.

I have a Gygabyte GA-7VTXE+ mobo (rel v1.00).
My power supply seems to be enough (250).

With WinMe the system hangs when the video card is being recognized The only way to start is in safe mode (640x400x16).

In XP Pro I've got better results. The video card seems to work fine until I use 3d feature (DirectX Direct3D test, games, ...)

Drivers: In XP I've the latest 4inI mobo drivers but in WinMe not.
I'm using last official Detonator drivers (30.82).

If you need more info I'll be pleased to give it to you.

Please, any help extremely welcome.

TIA.
Pablo.

Hi, i had exactly the same problems with my GF4 MX 440 card. I have both Me and XP and they both locked up, on my PC Chips M810L board. The only way i could prevent it happening was by running the card in 'PCI Mode' (it tells you what mode its in under Control Panel/Display/Settings/Advanced/GeForce4 MX 440/Bus: )but im not sure how i done this! Maybe someone else could help?

Good luck
Alex

Hi Alex,

I haven't tried in PCI but it think it should work without problems due is an AGP error (I guess).

I you run in PCI you are decreasing performance a lot, this shoult'd be a possible solution.

thanks any way :)

Hope to any recomend us a better solution.
Pablo.

250 watt psu is not enough for an athlon xp based system with an agp card. The pc chips 810 is very selective about the graphics cards it can take. Lowering the AGP bus to 2X helps stability on these boards.

Hi,

In AGP 2x works! :)

1) Should I buy a more power psu?
2) or there is no importart performance gain from AGP 2x to 4x?
3) Perhaps another graphics card can work better?

Thaks a lot.
Pablo.
