hey guys i got a year old hp desktop computer running windows 7 and i have been using the program "VSO convert x to dvd" to burn some dvd movies.

i used sony dvds and half of them end up in the garbage as they don't burn right but then some burn fine.... i tried memorex and almost all of them did not burn right and went into the garbage.

so i picked up some verbatim dvds and now.. well..... when i put a blank disc in it has trouble detecting it but then when it does detect it it burns fine but when it doesn't detect it you can hear the dvd drive spinning the disc, humming, making noise then all os a sudden bam! blue screen saying windows encountered a problem then it does a physical memory dump....

what is going on here?? it's driving me nuts.

I would try another program, or contact the manufacturer's tech support to see if they could help you out.

I am thinking there is a problem with the drive. I use "VSO convert x to dvd" to convert some files but I use "DVD Shrink" to create Iso images and "Dvd Decrypter" to burn the images.

it works perfect for anything else though... just burning dvds is what is has problems with.
