Comment: I have a problem with a new comp. I just upgraded with AOpen n250a-fr mb. Athlon 64 2800+ and Powercolor All-In-Wonder Radeon 9800 Pro. My problem is that after seeing self test screen and so on, then I get an blank screen with a blinking cursor in top left corner of the screen. This happens when I try to boot in XP or on the XP cd. If i boot on a old MS dos 6.2 disk, then there is no problem, and I end up in dos. Then I tried to install my old Gforce 3 TI-200 card and everything works perfect. I reinstalled XP with no problem. When I swich back to the ATI card, it get the blinking cursor screen again. I wonder if this is a problem with the Powercolor card? OR is it actually the motherboard that does not work with the Powercolor card?!.. I have tried disconnecting almost everything, half my ram and so on. Also I have tried to change different settings in bios - nothing helps.. Any suggestions... ? :-)

Reply: (edit)you might have tried this as you mention the BIOS. Have you tried changing the AGP speed in BIOS. I have had graphics cards that have been iffy if the AGP speed was 'auto' in BIOS but they then worked if i selected specific AGP speeds - can you vary yours?, try different speeds , not just the one you think it should be. Also I think some Radeon 9800 cards have to have a power connector plug connected to the graphics card from the PSU - check this

Reply: (edit)Thanks Tonight I will try the card in another computer to see if it makes any difference. If it doesn't work there - then the card must be defect - and it goes back to the store! I will also try to change the AGP speed as you mention. Do anyone know if I can break anything by setting a to high AGP speed? It is set to auto now, and it default at the lowest possible speed (66,67mhz) but I can change it up to 100Mhz. There is a power connector on the card, and I have attached it to the PSU! :-) But thanks for asking!

Reply: (edit)Hi again New card did not solve the problem. However, an beta bios from AOpen did!!! Everything works fine now - however, I don't know what to think about beeing forced to use a beta bios to use my card. BTW. The bios also solved the Memory problem I had. (see other thread)
