Problems after changing cmos battery

Specs: Windows XP
good day everybody.I need help about my pc which i had replace the cmos battery but then when pc turn off, i need to re-set the clock again.previously i changed my power supply.the pc work just fine except system time need to re-set prior to shutdown. my sys is acer p4 prescott.
another thing is that before cmos battery change, i dont take any note about bios as the pc totally out due to power there any effect?

Check that you put the battery in the right way round. It is to easy to put it in upside down and not do anything.

When you change the battery did you go into the BIOS and reset the time?

If you cannot remember all the setting there should be an option for System Defaults. They wont be perfect but at least they will work. Make sure you save the setting before exiting the BIOS,
