I guess the following 'might' be one possibility, although 2680 seems awful low.

Yup, there is no solution, 'if' that's the problem. I'm not saying it is, but it's the only thing that I can think of.

Wait for other ideas.

You have (2 x 1024MB) + (2 x 512MB), for a total of 3072MB. You say only 2680MB is recognized...is it possible that the number is actually 2688MB? If so, that would leave 384MB unaccounted for. And if you're using the onboard video, that *should* account for another 128MB, leaving you with 256MB.

Since 256MB is 512MB/2, it would seem that only 50% of one of your 512MB sticks is being recognized. That usually indicates a density issue.

From your motherboard manual:

"Due to chipset limitation, DIMM modules with 128 Mb memory chips or double-sided x16 memory chips are not supported in this motherboard."

Another possibility is that the onboard video is using 384MB (or 392MB)?

I am not using on board video.it's very funny because before putting the 2x1gb ram, i had 2x512 and the system recognized 1024....
