Subject: problem with PCI parallel port cardOS: 98seCPU/Ram: Pentium 2/128mgh |
Comment: Any help is appreciated. Comp is a 300mgh pentium 2 with 128mgb ram running 98se. The card is a Net Mos PCI 9805 parallel port card. I am trying to hook up a Iomega 250 external parallel zip drive. The PCI card has been set up, and drivers installed. It shows up in device mgr with no problems indicated in properties. The zip drive has been tested in 2 diff 98se computers(not through a card, but through regular parallel port)with the same drivers as I have installed on my machine with no problems. This is the first time trying to set up a PCI parallel port card, and there has got to be something I am missing. Any thoughts/ideas on what I could try would be appreciated. Thanks for your time. IKE

Reply: (edit)It should work OK. I have a Lava PCI parallel port card in my machine running Win98SE, though it's only connected to two printers. One thing you should check. There are several types of parallel port - SPP (the original), bi-directional, EPP and ECP. My card only supports EPP and SPP and it's possible yours is similar. The zip drive may only work on ECP. Reply: (edit)Thanks for replying Bryan, you hit the nail right on the head, went into bios, changed the setting to ecp, rebooted, now zip is recognized. Thank you for taking the time to help a novice out. Have yourself a great day! IKE
