Hi, everyone. If you have an older computer with an older video card, like a Compaq Presario 5240 desktop PC with a Rage LT Pro video card, and you hook up a newer monitor to it, like an NEC AccuSync 700 round-screen monitor, ¿could the fact that it's an older computer with an older video card like that affect the display that you see on the monitor by distorting the image at all? If so, ¿would upgrading to a newer video card, like one that came out around the same time or after the monitor did, fix this problem? The reason I'm asking is because that's the computer, video card and monitor I'm using now, but on the old monitor that originally came with this computer, which was called the Compaq Presario MV500, I don't remember having any problems with it, but on this NEC one, the left and right sides of the screen don't seem to be right. They seem to be a little bent rather than nice and straight. I straightened it out as much as I could, but it's now as straight as it can get without the screen being adjusted inward too much, yet it still doesn't look right, and I don't know why.

If anyone can shed some light on this problem, please do.

Chris,
You probably need to update the display driver---> http://www.necdisplay.com/support/main.cfm?thePage=http://www.necdisplay.com/support/driversdownloads/howto/Win98_inf_install.htm&title=How%20to%20Install%20Drivers%20&%20Software

Well, actually, I forgot to mention that I already downloaded the software driver for that NEC AccuSync monitor I have from their Web site, but the only thing that changes is that it shows it in the color profile on Windows, but it doesn't seem to affect anything else.

YOu know sommat this really gets to me but the other night i tried banging up MANDRAKE 9.1 and failed a few times with a DAEWOO monitor and HEWLETT PACKARD system the prob was the resolution and colour depth and monitor spec .Anyway I changed the monitor out of frustration to one, another HP one i had lying around and guess what the whomle systel sets up and running--I am a "ham brewer" and never thought this compatability thing out but these companies really try to mess you up if you mix and match their products.Maybe I have been taught a basic elementary question--the HP monitor "AUTO" configured!!!!
