CPU/Ram: Athlon 64 w/ 1gig pc3200
Comment:

I am having a problem installing ram into my computer, 2 sticks of Identical 1gig ddr pc3200. My motherboard is a Gigabyte-K8N Pro. My problem is I am unable to use both sticks of ram in my computer at the same time. Both stick work by themselves, and in any of the ram slots. The Motherboard is able to handle the ammount of Ram, 1gig per slot. So Im not sure why they wont work.

The problem is when both chips are in the computer at the same time, the computer will only boot up the the point were it check the ammount of Ram in the computer. Once it gets to this point, it hangs for 2sec and then reboots, putting itself into a loop. Just fyi, I am able to get into the bios befor it reboots.

Any help on how to cure this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Look at these links and look for one of the forums that discuss Athlon 64 problems. It may just be a matter of adjusting the memory timings. If not then you either live with one stick or find memory that will work in pairs on your board.

i think the problem is that they are two different types of ram, (etc 1 ram is pc133 and 1 ram is pc100) and are incompatible with each other.

According the the manual there are at least two types of 1 gig modules that can be used -
32Mx8bitsx4 banks and
16Mx16bitsx4 banks
If you do not have one of these types, one may work on its own, but they won't work with each other, at least not on this mboard.

Even if that's not the case -
There are lots of modules out there that are incompatible when used in certain mboards - they may work fine on another mboard.
Have you looked to see if Gigabyte has a list of modules approved for this mboard?

And why do you think you need that much memory?
