I bought the HP Pavilion zd 7000 laptop around 2 weeks back. I'm facing a problem with Battery. I shutdown the system and removed the powercard and restarted after 1 day. Battery lost 1% of it's charge. I repeated the same for 2 days, and it's lost 2% of it's charge. I called the support, they are saying it is property of battery. they loose power like that even if you don't use it. Is it true??
Any suggestions???

Unfortunately YES, it is true. Most batteries lose approximately 1% (or more as the battery ages) of the remaining charge per day. Also the total capacity (life) is reduced by use and age. The original battery pack of my laptop now lasts approximately 15 minutes after 8 years. Another laptop charge drops to 24% after 2 months.

Be prepared to purchase spare or replacement battery packs. With a big dent in the wallet.

Thanks for your reply! Thank you for the valuable information!!! I had dell Inspiron 1150 laptop before. But I never had this problem. I never lost battery charge unless until I use battery power. I'm just wondering, is this only for HP laptops?

As far as I know all batteries, rechargeable or not, lose capacity with time. Higher current capacities usually have higher self-discharge rates. You didn't leave your computer standing unused for a long enough time.
